At the end of 2021, uranium has returned as a significant raw material. Nuclear power is experiencing growing acceptance.

There is no low-carbon future without uranium and nuclear power. Yet the supply of uranium is severely limited. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has increased concerns about security of supply and driven up the price of uranium. Although Russia supplies only about 14 percent of the uranium, it is responsible for about 27 percent of the enriched uranium. Even for the EU, nuclear energy is considered sustainable. And to reduce energy dependence on Russia, the U.S. and EU will start new enrichment plants by the middle of the year. For a long time, uranium prices were low, and at the same time, production became more expensive. As a result, major market players had reduced their investments in the uranium sector by about 80 percent. According to estimates, there will be a shortage of 15 to 30 million pounds of uranium every year. This is not expected to change until uranium mines can supply more, around 2030, and the price rises to $75 to $85 per pound.

Today, a pound of uranium costs a good 50 US dollars. Some experts see the price of uranium being between 80 and 90 U.S. dollars in the coming years. The estimates for uranium are so good because the demand for clean energy has come to the fore. Fears of disasters in the operation of nuclear power plants, on the other hand, have plummeted. The roughly ten-year period when a pound of uranium cost between $20 and $25 is over. Incidentally, the price of uranium peaked in 2007 at 150 U.S. dollars per pound. Uranium companies could therefore currently offer good investment opportunities.

There is Labrador Uraniumhttps://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/labrador-uranium-inc/ – with its uranium projects in Labrador and Nunavut.

Among the particularly promising uranium companies is Uranium Energyhttps://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/uranium-energy-corp/ -. The company has projects in Canada and the United States, some of which are operational. The newly added Roughrider uranium project adds to the high-grade projects.
