Electric drive systems are increasing and need lithium, as do electricity storage systems.

Whether electric buses in Chinese metropolises and increasingly in Europe or electric trucks, the future is electrified. Many small and medium-sized construction machines can also be operated fully electrically today. When it comes to shipping with electric motors, it’s important to know that one large ship emits about as much CO2 as 70,000 cars. According to the latest plans, Hamburg wants to have two fully electric ships built. The 16-meter-long ships will have electric motors and huge batteries on board. They will sail the Alster and canals quietly and with zero emissions.

In Norway, there are plans to electrify car ferries, as there are almost 200 of them there. There are also climate-friendly options for passenger ships. The world’s first zero-emission high-speed ferry is operating in Norway. A first electric passenger ship is also already in operation on Lake Constance. A second is to follow, and the goal is to eliminate all fossil fuels by 2035.

Electrically powered small vehicles such as scooters, motor scooters or e-bikes are no longer a speciality. This development calls for powerful energy storage systems and thus for lithium for the lithium-ion batteries. Apart from the mobility sector, it is electricity storage in wind and solar farms that will continue to drive lithium demand. This also includes solar modules on the roofs of houses. About a year ago, more than 2.2 million PV systems were already installed on roofs and properties in Germany. Investors can bet on the demand for lithium with investments in companies from this sector. There are Century Lithium and Li-Metal, for example.

Century Lithiumhttps://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/century-lithium-corp/ – owns the Clayton Valley Lithium Project in central Nevada. High purity lithium carbonate has already been produced.
