GOLDBECK SOLAR, a global player in renewable energy solutions, recently participated in the prestigious Ukraine Recovery Conference, which took place in the presence of esteemed leaders and representatives from over 60 countries. GOLDBECK SOLAR were invited as part of the German delegation, representing German businesses participating in the reconstruction of Ukraine. The conference is the central forum for the international community to mobilise global support for Ukraine’s economic and social stabilisation and recovery, including financing private sector participation in the reconstruction process.

The conference, inaugurated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, witnessed the participation of influential figures such as Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State as well as several British and Ukrainian Members of Parliament.

A key highlight of the conference was the signing of a memorandum between the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and 19 Development Finance Institutions (DFIs). This memorandum establishes a joint platform for co-financing investments in Ukraine, with a particular focus on the private sector of the economy. Such collaborative efforts aim to fuel sustainable growth and foster long-term prosperity in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government has also declared ambitious targets for the renewable energy sector. A new goal of installing 4 GW of solar PV annually was announced, accompanied by significant objectives for wind power growth, hydrogen production facilities, and grid modernization and upgrade. These targets reflect Ukraine’s unwavering commitment to transitioning to a cleaner and more sustainable energy landscape.

Olga Kovalchuk, Head of Finance and Investment at GOLDBECK SOLAR, commented: "We are very proud to be part of the German delegation at the Ukraine Recovery Conference. The conference was dedicated among others to energy and infrastructure. We are encouraged by the momentum that is building to help Ukraine reconstruct using sustainable, innovative, and resilient green technology solutions. At the same time, more needs be done by DFIs to speed up the deployment of funds and assist private sector companies that are ready to invest in Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction by offering commercial lending terms.”
