The Federation for Envelopes and for Light and eCommerce Packaging in Europe (FEPE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Viktor Kovacic as its new Managing Director, effective June 1, 2023. Kovacic, an experienced lawyer with a profound understanding of European institutions and Brussels dynamics, assumes the leadership role from the departing Matti Rantanen, who left the association by personal choice.

"We are delighted to welcome Viktor Kovacic as the new Managing Director of FEPE," stated a spokesperson for the association. "With his deep expertise and vast experience in legal affairs, project management and lobbying coupled with his extensive network in Brussels, we are confident in his ability to navigate the challenges facing our industry and drive its future growth."

Viktor Kovacic (45 years old/from Slovenia) brings a wealth of legal knowledge and lobbying experience to his new role. Having previously worked as a lawyer and a project manager for various international associations and within different European institutions such as the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, and the European Central Bank, Kovacic is well-versed in the intricacies of European legislation and policy-making processes.

The transition in FEPE’s management occurs during a challenging market environment, characterized by significant declines in traditional letter communication and double-digit growth rates in online trade. The envelope industry has responded to these shifts by developing innovative and intelligent packaging solutions for e-commerce products. However, Kovacic emphasizes that this transformative process is ongoing and will require sustained efforts in the years to come, which FEPE is committed to supporting.

"FEPE will continue to accompany and champion the envelope industry’s evolution," said Kovacic in a brief statement. "While we adapt to the changing market dynamics and pursue new opportunities in the e-commerce sector, we also recognize the enduring importance of the traditional envelope business for many of our members. With over 40 billion envelopes and pockets still used in Europe each year, the success of this industry directly impacts the livelihoods of thousands of employees."

Kovacic’s leadership will focus on fostering innovation, driving sustainability, and advocating for the interests of FEPE members. He aims to strengthen the association’s collaboration with EU institutions, industry stakeholders, and partners to navigate the evolving market landscape successfully.

FEPE is confident that under Viktor Kovacic’s guidance, the association will continue to be at the forefront of promoting sustainable practices, fostering industry growth, and advancing the envelope and packaging sector in Europe.
