Eclipseina, specialist for testing of the charging communication in electromobility, presents EC-SIM, an independent "counterpart" for the Power-Line Communication PLC. EC-SIM complies with both DIN 70121 and ISO 15118 standards. It either simulates the communication behavior of a charging station (EC-SIM-EVSE) or, alternatively, behaves like an electric vehicle (EC-SIM-EV). This makes the communication module ideal for integration in test setups during development or for use in end-of line EoL test systems.

Both simulators provide a deep insight into the communication content received by the system under test. They have been designed to be flexible, i.e. they always provide the correct answers according to the selected standard, even if the test object itself does not behave in accordance with the standards.

To facilitate smooth integration of the simulators into the customers’ working environments, Eclipseina provides a free online expert support. This ensures that all users can exploit the full potential of the simulators for EV and EVSE charging communication.

EC-SIM-EV simulates the standard-compliant communication behavior of an electric vehicle, either in accordance with the DIN 70121 or ISO 15118 standards. The compact simulator is used e.g. in R&D departments or at the end of the production line for functional testing of the electronics of a charging station. EC-SIM-EV provides the standard-compliant packages for charging communication and thus avoids the need to bring in a real electric vehicle for the correct proof of function during development or production.

EC-SIM-EVSE is the corresponding counterpart and simulates the standard-compliant communication behavior of a charging station. For example, the correct behavior of a vehicle’s on-board electronics can be tested in a defined manner without having to install a real charging station.

The two simulators therefore allow hardware-oriented enterprises, for example, to test the correct communication behavior of their products at the end of the production line without being forced to perform a deep dive into the details of the comparatively complex power line communication. A user-friendly and straightforward HMI also contributes to intuitive operation, allowing parameters to be set quickly and with ease.

Eclipseina’s team of specialists is also available to analyze detected errors or weak points or to assist with technical questions regarding high-level charging communication.
