STEGO Group, a leading manufacturer of electrotechnical products in the field of sustainable electronics protection for control cabinets and technical installation spaces, has achieved an important victory in a patent litigation against Wenzhou Natural Automation Equipment CO., LTD. in China.

The company announced today that Wenzhou Natural Automation Equipment CO., LTD. was fined and ordered to cease and desist by the Supreme Court in Beijing in the second instance for copying the patented locking mechanism of STEGO’s FPI/FPO 018/118 filter fans without permission. This mechanism ensures that the fans are securely fastened in the mounting recess without the need for tools.

"We are very pleased with this important victory and the Supreme Court’s ruling," said Elmar Mangold, managing director of STEGO Group. "It is further proof that STEGO is willing to protect its intellectual property rights and that we will actively defend ourselves against patent infringement."

The loss of the patent case in court will force Wenzhou Natural Automation Equipment CO., LTD. to cease the sale and manufacture of its products in China, as well as their export to other countries, if the products contain the patented locking mechanism.

Furthermore, the Chinese company is required to destroy the inventory. The plagiarizer is obligated to pay a high six-figure sum in damages (RMB¥) to the STEGO Group. This verdict from the second instance is legally binding without the possibility of appeal.

Worldwide Patent Filing Strategy for Branded Products

STEGO Group emphasizes that it will continue to protect its intellectual property rights and act against patent infringements worldwide. A consistent patent filing strategy protects the company from product piracy and safeguards its economic performance.

STEGO products are used in critical and safety-relevant technical applications. The use of filter fans, for example, prevents overheating in control cabinets and avoids downtime and shutdowns. Branded products from STEGO Group are of high quality and independently certified, which guarantees users the reliable safety of the original manufacturer.
