Stäubli Robotics has 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical market and a unique portfolio of robots comprised of three distinct ranges: Accesspharma for non-aseptic applications, Stericlean for use in RABs and freeze dryers in aseptic areas, and Stericlean+ for use in isolators. Adapting seamlessly across production environments, Stäubli robots support a wide range of applications, offering proven reliability, ensuring compliance, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Sterimove: The world’s first mobile, modular, multipurpose pharma cleanroom robot
The latest addition to Stäubli’s pharma robot offering, Sterimove, is the world’s first Grade A/B/C/D-compatible mobile pharma robot. Designed as a modular platform for cleanroom environments, it operates in Grade A, B, C and D areas, supporting a wide range of applications and enabling the safe transport of components and products to various stations on pharmaceutical production lines.
Trends such as personalized medicine and small batch production make flexibility a must. Sterimove’s modular design allows it to support both manual deployment and fully automated workflows. An optional onboard 48V controller that supports compatible robotic arms enables direct operation from the Sterimove platform.
The design also prioritizes two pillars of aseptic manufacturing: contamination control and cleanability. Freely accessible wheels and aseptic design minimize contamination risks. All surfaces are accessible, enabling rapid on-site cleaning. Decontamination-compatible materials, specifically selected to withstand hydrogen peroxide exposure and other cleaning agents, further simplify the process and ensure compliance with pharmaceutical protocols.
Live demo: Pairing Sterimove with a Stericlean+ robot arm – the ultimate mobile pharma robot system
At CPHI, attendees will have the opportunity to see the first-ever public pairing of Sterimove and Stericlean+. Stäubli will demonstrate Sterimove with a TX2-60L Stericlean+ robot integrated as the top module performing a tub handling application—one of many pharma use cases supported by the platform, such as environmental monitoring (surface and air), isolator glove-checking and tending, and various material handling tasks with caps, vials, and syringes, including freeze-dryer loading. Due to its Grade A compatibility, Sterimove can be used in highly aseptic pharma manufacturing facilities with no risk of contamination.
Mounted on the mobile Sterimove platform, the robot arm picks nested vials, places them into tubs, and transfers the tubs between stations, demonstrating modular automation as a flexible link between production cells. The setup reflects real-world scenarios in aseptic fill-finish environments, where reliable transport of nested vials is critical to maintaining process integrity and throughput.
Whether used for contamination tracking, component handling, or isolator tending, Sterimove delivers consistent performance across applications. Its support for both standalone and integrated configurations makes it a future-ready asset that can be tailored to evolving production needs.
High performance in highly controlled environments
Stäubli’s Stericlean+ series is designed for use in isolators in highly aseptic environments, allowing manufacturers to meet the strictest hygiene and cleanliness standards while increasing efficiency and output. These robots are a breakthrough in the automation of highly aseptic processes, featuring higher cleanability, an FDA-compliant surface coating and joint sealings, minimal dead space, and other enhanced hygienic design features. The entire outer surface is capable of withstanding intensive cleaning and decontamination with VHP (H2O2) in isolators.
Stäubli Stericlean+ robots come complete with a comprehensive documentation package including third-party validation, upholding the highest hygienic standards with full transparency.
Another demo at the Stäubli Robotics booth will highlight the telemanipulation capabilities of a TX2-60 Stericlean+ robot. Visitors will have the opportunity to test the functionality hands-on, controlling the robot via a haptic device instead of gloved manual manipulation, which provides enhanced control and precision for highly aseptic tasks while minimizing direct human intervention.
With a comprehensive portfolio of specialized hygienic robots for a range of applications in all areas of pharmaceutical production, Stäubli Robotics continues to advance automation in life sciences.
