DÜRR NDT celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026. The company was founded in 2006 as a subsidiary of Dürr Dental SE, whose expertise in X-ray technology dates back to 1966. This means that a total of 60 years of experience in X-ray technology underpins DÜRR NDT’s current developments. DÜRR NDT leverages this solid know-how to develop state-of-the-art digital technologies for non-destructive testing (NDT) and make them available worldwide.

Shortly after the launch of the CR 35 models in 2006, DÜRR NDT emerged as one of the leading manufacturers of image plate scanners for non-destructive testing (NDT). Known as computer radiography (CR), this technology uses flexible, reusable imaging plates and is therefore also suitable as a digital, efficient and environmentally friendly replacement for conventional film-based X-ray imaging. In 2013, the advanced HD-CR 35 NDT image plate scanner with TreFoc technology followed, a worldwide unique laser focusing system that enables a very broad range of applications. With this system, DÜRR NDT is the only CR manufacturer to achieve an outstanding basic spatial resolution of 30 µm.

In 2016, DÜRR NDT expanded its portfolio to include flat panel detectors and once again revolutionizes digital radiography with the compact CMOS X-ray detector D-DR 7 NDT. With a pixel pitch of 19 µm, it achieves a basic spatial resolution of 25 µm, which is why the D-DR 7 NDT is the preferred choice in the aerospace industry for inspecting delicate welds. Shortly thereafter, large-format wireless flat panel detectors follow, specifically optimized for portable use in industrial radiography. DÜRR NDT is presenting another innovation in 2024, the first bendable digital X-ray detectors, primarily designed for inspecting circumferential welds on pipes and curved objects.

DÜRR NDT continues to demonstrate a pioneering spirit in the software sector as well, launching DRIVE NDT in 2019, the first comprehensive workflow management software for NDT. This web application is the first of its kind to organize the entire NDT workflow for all testing methods within a single system.

All digital radiography systems are delivered from the start with the in-house developed imaging and analysis software D-Tect. 2020, redesigned from the ground up and developed in close collaboration with NDT experts and users, D-Tect X is launched, opening entirely new dimensions in terms of user-friendliness and performance. Constant further development with new tools and AI features ensures that users are always on the cutting edge. In 2025, DÜRR NDT adds instaNDT to its software portfolio, an intelligent PACS solution for archiving X-ray images. It offers all DICONDE functions of a picture archiving and communication system in a modern web interface. This results in a comprehensive software package becoming available for digitization in the NDT sector.

Today, DÜRR NDT offers a wide range of innovative X-ray solutions that are successfully used worldwide by leading companies in various industries, including mechanical engineering, oil & gas, and aerospace. Typical applications include weld inspection, erosion and corrosion inspection, and inspection of castings, as well as scientific material testing. Together with a global network of qualified distributors, customers in over 100 countries receive comprehensive service and support.

DÜRR NDT remains committed to its vision of driving the digital transformation in non-destructive testing through innovation, while providing high-quality radiography products and services that deliver maximum value to the customer.
