A GEDA 1500 Z/ZP transport platform in a closed configuration is currently being used on a challenging construction site in Le Havre, France. The project is located on the site of a thermal power station that has been decommissioned since April 2021 and is currently being gradually dismantled.

A GEDA 1500 Z/ZP in the BS version with UNI-X masts was installed for work on the chimney at that location. The aerial work platform was specially adapted to the site-specific requirements: The unit features an enclosed design.
The enclosed version of the GEDA transport platforms expands the proven range of applications for these aerial access solutions, which have been in use worldwide for decades. In addition to the GEDA 1500 Z/ZP, the GEDA 500 Z/ZP and the GEDA 1200 Z/ZP are also available as enclosed models. They are particularly suitable for specialized tasks and demanding applications where structural conditions or safety requirements call for special solutions.

A key advantage of the enclosed design is the reduced safety clearance, whilst maintaining GEDA’s high safety standards. As a result, the enclosed transport platforms offer a cost-effective solution that is highly practical and provides excellent value for money.

GEDA also offers a flexible solution for existing systems: GEDA transport platforms already in use can be converted to the enclosed version using the appropriate conversion kits. Furthermore, the enclosed models can also be ordered directly from the factory. Thanks to the wide range of existing platform variants suitable for conversion, a wide variety of custom configurations can be realised.

In Le Havre, during the initial phase of operation, the transport platform will be used at heights ranging from 0 to 19 metres to transport materials and assembly teams for the scaffolding that is yet to be erected. The system will subsequently be extended to a final height of 43 metres. It will then support the subsequent cleaning and asbestos removal work on the chimney.

The chimney itself stands 240 metres tall and is regarded as a historically significant structure in Le Havre. The specific circumstances of the demolition project place high demands on logistics, safety and the adaptability of the access equipment used.

With the custom-configured, enclosed GEDA 1500 Z/ZP, GEDA once again demonstrates how flexible transport solutions can be reliably deployed even under complex site conditions – from transporting materials to safely lifting teams to height.
Please note: GEDA will be happy to provide a detailed overview of the available conversion options to enclosed versions.
