• Visitors are invited to join us on October 6-8 in hall 5, stand A34 to gain insights into the entire aluminum value chain
  • The largest aluminum extrusion press line in Europe (150 MN, fully electrified) is designed to unlock new profile production capabilities while setting new benchmarks for all-electric, low-carbon production
  • Nexcast®: The minimill solution with innovative continuous strip caster for energy- and capital-efficient production of sophisticated, high-value alloys

SMS group will be participating in ALUMINIUM 2026 in Düsseldorf from October 6-8 in hall 5, stand A34.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore SMS’s comprehensive range of solutions covering the whole aluminum value chain—logistics, powder metallurgy, casting, forging, extrusion, flat rolling, and strip processing. By combining this expertise with services, automation, and digitalization, SMS is supporting the aluminum industry as a full lifecycle partner.

On the trade fair floor, guests can expect insights into new milestones and future-oriented technologies enabling the cost-optimized, digitalized, and CO₂-reduced manufacture of high-quality aluminum products.

At ALUMINIUM 2026, SMS will host a series of presentations in which industry experts share success stories and delve into current projects, technologies, and market trends. A special highlight will be the ASAŞ Alüminyum megaproject, featuring the largest aluminum extrusion press in Europe.

SMS supplied the entire extrusion line, demonstrating its expertise and excellence across the complete process chain, from the press feed line and induction heating furnaces (IAS) to the runout equipment (OMAV), with the 150-meganewton direct tube press at the heart of the installation.

With a press force of 150 meganewtons, the press incorporates an innovative drive concept and will enable the production of extrusion profiles of dimensions that are currently unmatched anywhere else in Europe.

The project is further distinguished by its advanced level of digitalization, together with advanced digital solutions that enhance efficiency, transparency, quality, and operational performance throughout the entire extrusion plant.

SMS is also looking forward to presenting Nexcast®—the next-generation aluminum minimill—a key innovation with the potential to transform the aluminum industry. Nexcast® has been in commercial operation since August 2025, ending the tradeoff between efficiency and capability. It offers the cost advantages of continuous casting and can produce sophisticated, high-value alloys via a compact, integrated production line.

“Nexcast®, which we will showcase at the ALUMINIUM event in Düsseldorf, is a compelling example of how SMS helps producers gain efficiency without giving up capability. We link technological progress with sustainable production. This minimill solution is redefining continuous casting and is supporting the industry’s shift towards a more sustainable, future-oriented production. Together with our co-development partner Golden Aluminum, I look forward to sharing operational results and to discussing the future of aluminum with our visitors,” says Michael Schäfer, Executive Vice President Flat Products, SMS group.
