Layer2 leading solutions, well-known vendor of 3rd party solutions for Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint data integration and document synchronization has announced the availability of a new data provider that can manage document synchronization in hybrid environments significantly faster. The Layer2 Data Provider for Office 365 fast file syncs utilizes new and advanced Microsoft Web Services APIs to increase the operational performance substantially. Therefore, local documents can be migrated to Office 365 up-to 10 times faster. As a solid component of the Layer2 Cloud Connector the new data provider can be used for file migrations, as well as for backup, or for keeping documents in sync between local and cloud-based environments. Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint Online is supported as well as SharePoint Server 2016, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, Office Groups, Azure File Storage, and Windows File Server / NAS. File sharing solutions of other vendors, such as Google Drive or Dropbox can be integrated via their local document sets. Increased performance for SharePoint Online Migration, Backup, and Synchronization

Customers can run this Layer2 Solution locally in their own network or, alternatively, in their own private or public cloud, such as Microsoft Azure. Connections can be easily established by applying connection strings without any coding. The setup can be managed manually or – in case of a larger number of connections – by applying PowerShell automation. The app offers additional helpful options, such as including or excluding folders or files from / to synchronization by name, type, size, or age using a SQL-like query language. Pre-selected metadata columns are available automatically for field mapping. Custom metadata can be added during runtime with the help of so-called Dynamic Columns via C# programming – especially helpful in case of more complex migrations from Document Management Systems (DMS) to SharePoint.

The Layer2 Cloud Connector does not require any installation or changes within the connected systems. Connections are established directly and secure without any 3rd parties or clouds being involved. A centrally running Windows Service keeps the files in sync with flexible logging and alerting.

„We decided to create a new data provider, completely based on the new Microsoft APIs to get rid of all the time-consuming compatibility requirements for older SharePoint versions, also of some advanced features to deliver maximum performance to our clients”, reveals Frank Daske, Business Development Manager at Layer2, about the new solution. “The common Layer2 Data Provider for SharePoint will still be available to support SharePoint Server 2010 and 2013, also some specific advanced features.”

Free Download, flexible and cost-effective Licensing

This Layer2 Solution for fast file synchronization is licensed with a one-time fee per installation through the purchase of the Layer2 Cloud Connector. The number of connections, documents, sites, tenants is not limited and there are no additional data volume-related costs. More information and a free download after registration can be found on the vendor’s website at www.layer2solutions.com
